Awesome, I have always wanted to get out that way. Hope all goes well with your service, how long will you be out there.
Hawaii is a beautiful place. Only been here 2 days and i love it. If any of yall get the chance come out here and stay for a bit. Trust me its worth the trip. Guess i couldnt ask for a better place to be stationed.

Should be here for 3 years but at least 1 year of that will be deployed id say. The flight is boring as hell. Going over the ocean sucked you could look out and only see blue and white. Plus the airline was showing chick flicks so i was in hell.

Back in the day I lived in I Quad on Schofield Barracks...the only thing I didn't like about the place was that I spent entirely too much time in the field....have fun dude and make ya some memories. Mine was a 3 year tour too.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
I was getting ready to say that suprbeast was stationed out there but couldn't remember exactly if that is where you said you were. I hope to get out there someday, my wife says we are so that pretty much means we will....![]()

I'd go back for a vacation...but I really wouldn't want to live there again..it's just too small. And, in order to go anywhere else ya either have to fly or float..both of which cost a significant amount of money. But there are things to do there...learn to surf!!!

Most expensive vacation destination on earth (unless you're being sent on extended stay courtesy of the US Armed Forces!). I have a coworker from Hawaii and she hasn't seen her family in a dozen years - too expensive to go back.
Maybe one day we'd go, but in the meantime there are other places I'd like to visit first.
Make the most of your stay there - and send us some pictures!!
You'll shoot your eye out.

There are certain times of the year you can get good rates on flights to get to Hawai'i...but the place is still expensive unless you have a local ID or a state stamp on your ID. That way ya get discounts. For example, I had a military ID with a stamp and instead of paying close to $350 for a surf board, I paid right around $100...and that was in 1992. They have a tourist price for goods and they have an islander price which is hidden. The island price for a Big Mac back then was $1.99, the tourist price was $4.99....the island price for a room at the Waikiki Outrigger was $119 per night, the tourist price was $275....I'd hate to see what a week would cost there now. With all the foreign folks visiting there constantly tho, there was a steady, never ending, always changing stream of babes there tho...

Actually, for my spring college band trip back in April I went to Honolulu. Very nice place. The locals were usually pretty nice. We stayed at Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki Beach.
Flew over there with US Airways. Very boring flight. US Airways has lame policies (15 bucks for first checked bag for instance).
If you are in Honolulu, go to a luau, go to Germaine's Luau. They're really fun. Visit Diamond Head Volcano crater too.
My avatar is actually from my trip to Hawaii.
