I am not even sure this forum is safe, but I just wanted you guys to know that ill never be stating my views on anything again.

someone spoke to a family member of mine, and brought up my views, and took some things out of context that made me sound like an inconsiderate a-hole, which I felt was unfair.
now dont get it twisted, the person wasnt rude, or mean spirited, or even demeaning or anything bad, its just I thought people realized I was a fully independent individual.

I want you guys to know that my opinions are MY opinions, and no one else's.

and just because I am pro-marijuana legalization, does not mean I smoke marijuana.
Why does it have to mean that?
I realize the considerable amount of good it may do, and I think it could really help, I am not pro-marijuana because i am a stoner who just wants to get high, I really do believe it could do a lot of good.

Dude that is awful, hopefully you will continue to post over here...... I know what you mean about stuff getting out from here. I have had a couple of family members question me about somethings I have said on here, which I don't remember saying too many bad things, I would like to think I have been respectful on here. I know several of you all on here now and have been asked by several people who certain people are but I am not gonna give that up because they have asked me not to and I respect that, just like I hope the ones who know me don't go around saying stuff about me on here.

I hate this has happened to you Biggin and hope you continue to post. I must have missed the thread that all this went down because I don't remember anything about the situation. When did all this happen?

You might be surprised how much is repeated from here. If you EVER need to spread something, truth or lie- put it up here and throw in something about NOT wanting it spread. It makes a good tool, but you have to figure about what the reaction might be.

when all the stuff was going on the guy robbing the bank in Coeburn.. one of the girls who works at bank her husband who reads the forum I guess b/c he's a Principal or whatever found out who I was on here and tried to tell them I was releasing compromising information when I said nothing more than what the news had said the night it happen and nothing more than the Coalfield said the following day,so I just deleted my posts on the topic. It's always drama when pretty much anyone can read what you write like on the nonsports ... this kinda stuff seems to happen to lots of people!!

Heck - even watching what you say doesn't mean you're safe. I got a good 'talking to' from a boss 2 years ago over statements made on the sports forum. I need to be neutral, not say ANYthing about games I shoot or games I'm at, I'm pi$$ing off coaches, etc. etc.

Problem was, ibeawildcat was the one that made the statements (which were essentially just game observations from a parent's viewpoint). Someone just told them that ibeawildcat was me. Talk about frustrating.

Your actions on here are monitored, reported, recorded, etc., by many more people that you'd think.

It's the internet, I learned a valuable lesson on here. Never post anything you wouldn't want publicized to the world on any board. Obviously, you would hope that you could put more on here as opposed to the main board but really how much can you? I love posting here and I'm not going to stop but anything I find sensitive to any degree will never be posted somewhere that it can be read openly. It's what I like to call typical SWVA, people use this thing as a huge source for information. I have very little doubt that local newspapers use this thing religiously to find stories, why else would half the population of the town of Norton show up for practice one day a couple weeks ago?

Facebook and myspace are the same way, I know very few people who can post on here are my age but it's bad. Anybody who would have a picture of alcohol or partying up on their facebook page is a pure fool at this point, older people will get on there and exploit you for it to somehow use it against you. There is one thing I've learned recently from here, work, school, etc just be honest. IMO, it's much better to be honest, half the people may hate you for it but at least they always know how you feel. People that I feel that I have good relationships with understand that about me, and we get along fine. If they screw up and they ask my opinion I tell them, if I screw up they tell me, we don't get mad at each other. We most certainly do not take the information we share and use it against the other one. The internet is tracking tool boys and girls anything you say from e-mail to an lpd forum posting has your name on it, the only difference is some people have enough gumption and self worth to put their name behind it while others will hide behind a user name and take something you say and use it against you to hurt you socially, economically, or personally.

its because neither of us choose to hide behind a username, people know who I am, I am usually fine with that, I am not ashamed at all to let people know my views, but I never thought it would end up like this, someone bringing up my posts to my dad of all people.

i have a pretty good idea of who it was, because of some of the things they mentioned to dad. But, I digress.
its sad that people in 2009 still get ostracized because they dont share the same beliefs as most.
I tell people I am an atheist and I am pro-marijuana legalization, and its like its the stone age, and people assume im ignorant because of it.

I agree it is ridiculous, I try not to put stuff up that people are gonna hold me too out in public, it is crazy....What part of the forum did it even happen in, I don't remember a thread about that stuff being discussed, must have been a board I am not a part of (Religion/Political Board)
