A Nebraska insurance company that covered bonuses for three of Lance Armstrong's Tour de France victories has reached a settlement with the former professional cyclist in its lawsuit against him and the company that managed his former cycling team.

Acceptance Insurance of Omaha earlier this year filed a lawsuit alleging fraud, unjust enrichment and breach of contract in Texas state court in Austin, seeking to recoup the $3 million in bonuses it paid to Mr. Armstrong for his Tour de France wins from 1999 to 2001 as well as damages and legal fees.

The settlement comes a day before Mr. Armstrong was expected to be deposed in Austin. Mr. Armstrong's Austin-based attorney Tim Herman said in an email Wednesday afternoon that the case had been "resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties." Mr. Armstrong's lawyer didn't provide details of the settlement.

A lawyer for Acceptance, Mark Kincaid, said his planned deposition of Mr. Armstrong?on Thursday "is off." He confirmed the case was settled but said: "I cannot elaborate at this time."

Mr. Armstrong has been stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and admitted earlier this year to using banned drugs throughout his cycling career.

The resident of Austin and Aspen, Colo., faces other litigation, including a False Claims Act lawsuit filed by his former teammate Floyd Landis on behalf of the federal government in 2010, alleging Mr. Armstrong and the cycling team he led defrauded the government by receiving Postal Service sponsorship funds while the team was taking performance-enhancing drugs. The Justice Department joined that lawsuit earlier this year. A federal judge suggested Monday that he is unlikely to throw out all of the Justice Department's civil case.

the bitcoin virtual currency has hit a new record value of US$900. The surge is “the beginning of something spectacular,” with bitcoin potentially soon displacing the dollar, Jeffrey Tucker of the Foundation for Economic Education told RT.

“I think, that’s not a bubble, it represents a substantial paradigm shift,” Tucker said, commenting on the latest boom of the anonymous crypto currency.

“In fact $600 per bitcoin might be a thing of history, we might get it much –much higher,” the expert added.

“The important thing is that bitcoin I believe has a potential of becoming a new international monetary standard, something like gold standard in the 19th century had this real potential. So, I think, it could displace the dollar, and we are talking about maybe five, ten or fifteen years from now, but the bottom line is that the government currencies are broken at the moment, they don’t meet the modern needs of an internet age and Bitcoin does,” Jeffrey Tucker explained.

Later on Monday the US Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee held a hearing entitled “Beyond Silk Road: Potential Risks, Threats and Promises of Virtual Currencies” to take a close look at the existing virtual currencies, including bitcoin.

But since bitcoin is out of state control, “it doesn’t really matter what the government say or don’t say about bitcoin.” “It’s purely a product of global international market of traders and users,” Tucker said.

On top of that, the government would rather protect bitcoins than attack the currency, as “bitcoin is a great option for government bureaucratic theft or bribes.”

While bitcoin has recently been involved in the attack by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation when it shut down the Silk Road online market place that largely used the virtual currency, it hasn’t suffered at all, Tucker says.

“You know, the Silk Road, which is an on-line narcotics market, was taken down by the Federal Government and that didn’t harm bitcoin at all actually, bitcoin was up in value after it happened,” the expert said.

The Chicago-Green Bay rivalry intensified for one couple after a south suburban Bears fan won a bet with his Packers fan wife at a bar in Wisconsin, police said.

John M. Grant, 42, of Tinley Park and his wife watched the Bears beat the Packers Monday night at Sidelines Tap in Mayville, Wis., according to police.

Grant told police he and his wife made a bet that he could use a Taser on her if the Bears won.

The two were in the alley smoking a cigarette at one point when Grant used the Taser “two times on her buttocks,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Dodge County, Wis.

Grant’s wife then called police.

“Hell yeah it hurt,” she said, according to police.

Grant was charged with felony possession of an electronic weapon.

“It takes not only the Packer and Bear rivalry to a new level, it takes the spousal rivalry (to a new level),” said Mayville Police Chief Christopher MacNeill. “There are couples where the wife is a fan of one team and the husband’s a fan of another team, but this raises the bar a little bit and goes to the extreme.”

Grant’s wife told police she had not given consent for anyone to use a Taser, but police checked a video on her cell phone and saw the Taser used on her in the alley, where she is seen “laughing and it seemed apparent that Ms. Grant had consented,” the arresting officer wrote in the complaint.

“As a police officer, you always expect there to be some kind of disturbances when rival teams are playing,” Chief MacNeill said, especially when it’s the Bears and Packers. “But with something like this, it was completely unexpected and I think a lot of people were in disbelief this actually took place.”

Christopher Neu, who owns Sidelines, said he didn’t think the incident was malicious.

“They had a running bet that the loser would get Tasered by the winner,” Neu said. “Obviously she lost. “

Chicago police arrested a 14-year-old boy for allegedly impersonating one of their own Saturday.

The boy, who has been charged as a juvenile for impersonating an officer, walked into the Grand Crossing District station, 7040 S. Cottage Grove Ave., dressed in a Chicago police uniform, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. The boy, who reported for duty about 1:30 p.m., partnered with another police officer for about five hours.

The boy identified himself as an officer from another district but was detailed for the day to Grand Crossing and also was savvy enough to sign out a police radio and a ticket book, according to a source. The source also said the boy went on traffic stops with the officer he went on the street with.

Bond said the boy "did not write tickets" and said there was "no information to indicate that he [was] ever behind the wheel."

At an afternoon news conference, police said the boy had no interaction with the public.

After his tour was over, a ranking officer became suspicious of the boy. Police said the officer discovered the teen was not a real police officer when he couldn't produce any credentials. The boy was wearing police-issued pants, shirt, vest, sweater and skull cap, police said.

He was missing his police star, but that was not discovered until after he returned from traffic patrol. Police said the 14-year-old's partner on the traffic assignment did not recognize the boy was underage.

The source said the boy had an empty holster and a newspaper in place of a ballistic vest in his vest carrier.

Police described the boy as a former "police explorer," which means he was part of a community program run through the Police Department's Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) that allows youths to interact with Chicago police officers. He was part of the explorer program in 2008 in the Englewood District.

"The boy was not armed, and the matter is under investigation with Internal Affairs," Bond said.

Bond also said that how the boy acquired the police uniform was under investigation. Police officers need to present identification while acquiring their uniforms, police said.

The boy "has identified an egregious breach in security," Deputy Supt. of Patrol Dan Dugan said.

The boy, whom authorities did not identify since he's a juvenile, is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court at 10 a.m. Monday.

The 14-year-old Chicago boy charged with impersonating a Chicago police officer had been arrested at least once before for the same thing, according to the minister who acted as the boy's temporary guardian last year.

Roosevelt Watkins, pastor of the Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church at 9231 S. Cottage Grove Ave., said the first incident occurred in December 2007 and the second in December 2008.

In the first incident, Watkins said, the boy was arrested at 63d Street and Racine Avenue after he asked police to give him a ride to the nearby Englewood District station because he was reporting for duty. The officers asked him for his date of birth, but the boy couldn't come up with an answer and was arrested.

The second time, Watkins said the boy was stopped by police at the Ford City shopping mall, where he was walking around in full uniform. Police records do not show any record of him being arrested after this incident.

Watkins said that the boy had been involved in "a police explorers" program in the Grand Crossing Districtfor about 18 months but was removed from the program after the December 2007 incident. He said the boy loved police shows on TV and played video games that had police themes.

Watkins attended a crowded juvenile court hearing for the boy Monday, where Judge Andrew Berman accepted a not-guilty plea, ordered a clinical evaluation of the boy and sent him back to detention. He also scheduled another court date for Feb. 27.

Watkins said he agreed with the judge's actions, adding that he hopes the court will place him with a guardian instead of keeping him in detention.

"Sometimes he does not think everything through when he's thinking about the consequences facing his actions," Watkins added.

A major Hollywood mogul is breaking his silence on his secret role in a real life espionage thriller.

Israeli born producer Arnon Milchan, who could pick up an Academy Award for "12 Years a Slave," delivered an acting performance for the ages by secretly acting procuring arms and scientific advisers for the Israeli government and helping promote the country's fledgling nuclear program in the 1970s .

Milchan, whose film credits include 1990's "Pretty Woman," 1997's "L.A. Confidential," 1999's "Fight Club" and the upcoming biblical drama "Noah," even recruited other Israel-supporting Hollywood A-listers, like the late director Sydney Pollack, to help the acquire arms, Israel's Haaretz reported.

"Pollack knew, but I didn't want to scare him because he's American," Milchan told Israeli investigative journalist Ilana Dayan's television show, "Uvda" ("Fact"), that airs Monday.

Reports of Milchan's involvement as an Israeli intelligence agent have circulated for several years -- a book, "Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon Arnon Milchan" was published in 2011 -- but the now 68-year-old Hollywood heavyweight never confirmed his covert moonlighting gig.

The head of New Regency Productions is set to spill his secrets on Dayan's show, which has lined up a heck of a supporting cast that includes Robert De Niro, Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.

In a clip made available ahead of the broadcast, De Niro admits that he know his friend was involved with a cloak and dagger double life.

"I did ask him once, we spoke about something, he told me that he was an Israeli and that he of course would do these things for his country," De Niro says on the show, sitting next to Milchan, his producer on 1982's "The King of Comedy," 1985's "Brazil" and 1995's "Heat."

"I remember at some point, I had asked Arnon about that, being friends I was curious, but not in an accusatory way, I just wanted to know.

"He gave me that answer and I accepted it," De Niro added.

Milchan came in from the cold in the '80s to concentrate on making movies full time.

"If people knew how many times I risked my life, back and forth, again and again, for my country. And suddenly, [I have to] defend myself - 'I'm not an arms dealer, I don't sell guns, I don't sell rockets,' he tells "Uvda," according to Haaretz.

"I should have been aware of that, of what I'll go through, and said, 'F--- you.' You know what, I did it for my country and I'm proud of it."
