Well, the seller has been very helpful and I got all the insurance paperwork in the mail today; I just had to sign one thing and send it on. The seller had already paid for a Priority Mail envelope for me to use! The seller also said that if the insurance place didn't refund my shipping cost, that they would. Thank goodness for a helpful seller. Now I hope I get a refund check soon!
My husband is going to get out some wood glue to fix something else in the house so I'm going to glue the bed up as nicely as I can, and keep it for now, and when I can afford another one (or get one as a gift) I will sell the broken/glued one.

Glad things are going "smoothly." Well, as smoothly as they can for a situation like that!

Ann, would the bedding cover up most of the breaks? Do you need to keep it in the condition it arrived until the claim is complete? I hope all goes well--it's great that the seller is being so helpful!

Melissa, as far as I can tell I do not need to keep it in the broken state...it doesn't look like they need evidence, and even if they do, I took several pics of all the breaks from different angles.
Two of the breaks are where wood pieces were originally glued together, so those won't show when re-glued. But there is an awful one where one of the long side pieces broke in two. The mattress definitely won't cover that!
