Would your parents mind if you earned some money and bought one for yourself?
When I was 10 (1962-ish), I wanted a Barbie doll in the worst way. But my parents were very conservative, and wouldn't spend money on one, as a matter of principle, I think. But they didn't mind if I earned money to buy a Barbie for myself.
So I got busy and started making potholders. I kept making and selling potholders, until I had enough money to buy a Barbie, and then some clothes, and then a Midge also.
Now I know that AG dolls cost a LOT more than Barbies do, but do you think that your parents would feel like you were being rebellious or defiant if you earned money to buy her for yourself?
If you think that they wouldn't mind, what kinds of ways for earning money are available in your area for girls your age? Can you babysit? Feed someone's pet while they are out of town? Do extra chores around your house? Shovel some neighbor's walks? Mow lawns in the summer? Rake leaves in the fall? Ask for money instead of other gifts, for your birthday? Save up your allowance? Offer to be a mother's helper for some overworked mom in your neighborhood?
Does anyone else have any suggestions for ways for girls to make money when they don't have a regular job?

You might also keep asking. The longer my daughter asks for something, I figure the more she wants it.

I had a newspaper route when I was in middle school, but we had afternoon delivery so I was able to do it after school. My mom and I used to make craft iyems that we sold at Christmas bazaars, and we always had a garage sale in the summer. There's even ebay now. You can never guess what something's going to sell for.
