I can't tell you it's not true, but I have never heard of Addy with a body tag of 1986. Often her dress tag will say 1986.

I've seen Addy dolls with the 1986 body tag. Some say that these were "first run" Addy's or test dolls. I think that since all of the dolls from 1986 had white bodies, that the body tags simply mean what they say- Pleasant Company 1986. To me that implies when the company was founded. Of course, that would not explain why some of the clothing has a later date but maybe that is because Pleasant Co. changed manufacturers a time or two.
I have a very early Felicity with a 1986 body tag, and I have heard of some of the other historicals having them too. Some of the first tan bodies were given these tags at the factory (they actually say "Made in West Germany 1986). My understanding is that these bodies had different heads put on them till they were all used up and gone. I don't know for sure how long they were still being used before they were gone.
