my friend tried stopping before he'd really even learned the basics of skating on ice skates....
that was fun to watch

Yes, it's funny to watch others fall (especially when they flail about for 10 seconds before falling)... not so much when you do.
I can keep upright at a steady, but not too fast speed, and go around the rink... but nothing fancy.
i'm getting better at staying upright without doing that little flailing thing. i can actually keep my balance without it now.
still haven't fallen once!
.....that's gonna end someday. i'm sure of it.
Your legs flying out from underneath you and landing right on your ass sucks.
Oh, well... better than hitting your head and turning the rink into a cherry Icee.
my cousin did that when he came up from florida many, many years ago.... i was about 10, still playin hockey, still skinny (shocking! ), and i was just literally skatin circles around him.... turned around after one and he was face first on the ice with a steady trickle of blood comin out of his forehead.
....i laughed really hard and kept on skatin
Ever seen a two-skater collision?
It's usually between two beginners... they try to stop, but they just can't or move and SMACK!
i saw one guy skating backwards really fast plow into a beginner that wasn't paying attention to his surroundings and kinda got off the wall.
once again, way back in the day.... that night me and a friend just skated as fast as we could from one end of the rink to the other and crashed into the boards over and over again.
I haven't seriously ice skated since I took up roller hockey. It feels really weird to be on ice skates now.
i loved playing roller hockey, i'm thinkin about joining another league if i still suck at ice skating by the end of the month
and hey, if i do it, my skatin' buddy's sure to join. he's more accustomed to blades anyway.
