Wow...you couldn't be more wrong.
What Todd did was show the sports franchises what a nice product he could make, and how they could both make money in the process....thinking those Million Dollar balls had anything to do with it is absurd
NASCAR President Mike Helton-"Should we let this TMP make figures(toys) of our drivers....?
Some Other Important NACSAR Guy-"Why hell yes....I mean he did buy those baseballs....!?!?!"
Feel free to plug in MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL in the space that says NASCAR above....makes ZERO SENSE

ok, buying the balls did help a helluva lot, but, even without them, he'd still be able to sell alot of sports figures, it would've taken longer, possibly, but, what the hell do I know either way? I haven't even finished high school yet! get off my back!
I really want an explanation of how buying the balls could have helped helped at all, especially with all of the other sports....
There are much better and more effective ways of advertising than walking around with your balls hanging out.
Kenner didn't need no balls for Starting Lineups, they used their balls with the Star Wars license in the 70's.
Todd bought these because he is a sporto geek, and nobody can tell me different. Sure, he used them as advertising for a while, but I don't believe that was his original intention, though his story has probably changed by now. lol
But yeah, the balls still get his name dropped. For example...
"Todd who?"
"Oh you know, that idiot that paid millions of dollars for baseballs"
"Oh yeah, I have a few of his man ass slappers!"
As they say, all press is good press.

yeah TCm, ya got the biggest point, he bought them because he loves baseball, and then one of the helper elves told him how he could use them to sell stuff
...or uh, something along those lines

Plus the fact Todd loves Baseball. He's a collector just like the rest of us, if you have the cash "why the fuck not get it?".
Patronizing Todd just because he likes something you don't and bought them because he had the cash is just stupid.

Buying them because he loves baseball is perfectly fine with me....but to suggest that helped secure licenses for Sports, and racing is just silly....it's all about $$$$
