That Lucinda Greystone's maid, Grimmhild, was in possession of a disturbed mind was not only well-established, but widely accepted. Therefore, it came as no surprise to anyone in the tiny hamlet of Filly-On-The-
Green to discover that she had disappeared in the night, along with several expensive pieces of Lucinda's jewelry and the handsome-but-simple farmhand, Jericho...save for to Jericho himself, who was not only oblivious to Grimmhild's latent proclivities, but who suffered under the condition of complete unconsciousness, thanks to that woman's liberal application of a milk-churn handle to his skull.

He awoke the following morning with a pain in his head, a disheveled appearance, and no less than three women of ill-repute scattered about him. Grimmhild was nowhere to be seen.
