Yep, monster of the Id. Being unconsciously driven by one or more of the people on the island. Ben is definitely Morbius. But unlike FP, I think the plane crash survivors are also psychic enough to be doing their own dance with the monster, without Ben's involvement.

On FP you have a planet with a big humming underground machine that focuses psychic energy. Hell, it even looks like the hatches! It's spooky how similar some of it is.

I don't believe it's psychic ability that drives the monster. I think it's strong emotions or internal strife. In other words, anybody can conjure the monster...not just ones with psychic talents or abilities.

In my case, the monster would take form of all these hot naked babes.

... so is it possible that the vaccine protects one from 'invoking' the monster?

Also there are some bounds, since it seemingly never attacked anyone in the hatch or the 'Others' (they don't seem to concerned about it).

    Question

Okay, what about the polar station that noted the magnetic release back at the end of the season? They called someone (that looked like Jack's wife) and mentioned there was a problem...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don't think it was Jack'S wife, it was Desmond ex. I thought it meant Desmond's ''father in law'' was part of Dharma and that there was a way of communicating with the real world (outside the island)

I was under the impression that Desmond's ex's father was responsible for him ending up on the island in the first place.

I also think "The Others" answer to a higher power such as Desmond's ex's father. Or maybe even Desmond's ex may be a player here.
