it was kind of in response to a post regarding Mystique and Nightcrawler's father... hmmmmmm!!!!! the original poster suggested belasco as Nighty's father (yech, i hope not) but somehow i don't think that's what Chuck has in mind here...

I'm quite happy with Chuck Austen taking over writing chores on Uncanny. Granted, Casey's X-Corps stuff has been much better than Poptopia, but I absolutely loved War Machine and the Ultimate Gambit 2-parter. I look for Austen to actually use real German phrases correctly...all of his characters have a very natural dialogue that seems authentic. Or at least close enough for Marvel.
But anybody who can turn Darkhawk into a creepy, yet cool character must have some knack.

yeah i am looking forward to some proper Geman as well.. i don't speak the language but i do know that the 'german' used for Nightcrawler so far has been... shall we say... a bit of a joke... but Austen really impressed me with the Gambit story (and is it jsut me or was how he handled Hammerhead extremely icky.... but in a good way? i mean... OWWWW!!) in that he seemed to do the Cajun accent extremely accurately phonetically, not jsut a few cajun words thrown in here and there, and speaking in the third person... I do not know where Chuck is from, maybe he is form around New Orleans, i dunno... but it struck me as he really did his research, listening to the speech of the area, and even looking into the different dialects and slang phrases. tho i am a teensy bit worried, he went to a lot of trouble to make it spelled like it would sound for Gambit's accent, much more so than ever before, so will Nightcralwer's speech be spelled like it would sound with a German accent, i wonder?
Kurt (to some mencaing bad guy)- "vee are zhee X-Men!"
Bad guy - *snicker*
Kurt - "vhat are you laughing at?"
bad guy - "I'm sorry but you jsut sound so goofy saying that!"
Kurt - *hrumph* "well atleast i am more understandable zan Gambit."
bad guy - .... "true."
tho, maybe with his meticulous research, Chuck will throw in some German curses that slip by the censors i did always like that nighty could occasionally get away with swearing...

Chuck jsut went down a notch in my books... i love Angel and all, but...

1) In my poitch, Angel (archangel) was intended to be the team leader.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
*grumbles* Nighty should be leader *grumbles* i love him for wanting to make Nighty fun agian, but, come on, whose had more leadership experience, Warren or Kurt?
oh and, no i am not, that was a sad, pathetic excuse for writing... i even missed the last 'well' which shoud be 'vell' naturally... you shoulda read my 'Cyke tries to find out if is Gambit the third summers brother' scenario... that was classic... it's been lost at the old x-fan tho.

This new writer should prove quite interesting then. It's not that I don't like Kurt's religious side, but you can be religious and have fun at the same time.
I also hopes he gets the German right as well. I only took a couple years in high school, but even I could notice it hasn't too great throughout the X-Books. Now if they could just get the artist that did What If..? 98 (the Nightcrawler / Rogue / Mystique one), that would be sehr gut.

Hey, Noctie, can you post a link or at least tell me where in the Forum to find the NC thread: I had read it a short while ago, but right now I can't seem to find it (actually, X-Fan is giving me a hard time just loading up, period. I was hoping a link or something would get me there.)
Sincerely, a lost, frustrated, and very confused nghty.

oh, sure here you go! this is the link to Chuck's forum... http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/f...?s=&forumid=69
the nightcrawler thread hasn't been responded to lately so he hasn't said anything on the German language issue, but he did say this lil tidbit elsewhere:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>
And Nightcrawler's melding into the shadows power will be seen more.
