I've had a hard time with coworkers cause I think they were shifting into mobbing behaviours after the rumour - about me (theoretically still a senior analyst) jumping the "consultant" step and becoming a partner - spread.

I've reacted in my typical "head down like a bowling ball" manner and I've been very harsh with a coworker named Andrea (it's a man's name in Italy).

He's kind of sensitive in a weird girlish way - which I hate even in girls, I'm quite different from my normal self when it comes to work, you're supposed to be a samurai no matter how hard what you're working on is - and I think I hurt him.

Ten minutes ago we were laughing stress away and he asked me like a puppy:

"Ma...mi vuoi bene?"

which means "But...do you love me?"

How cute is that?

People are exactly like sheep, they "Baaa" and follow one another mindlessly. Then they all rub against a fencepost until they get "scrappy" and die...
Well, not exactly exactly like sheep.
Anyhow, gossip is terrible and all-pervasive in office settings. Baaa!

What I know is I'm becoming very intolerant.

Because two coworkers are still here cause I asked Boss to give them another chance (of course they don't know anything about this, I'm not the kind of person who likes her good deeds to be public) and when I saw them mobbing me I kind of lost it.

Then when Boss decided the percentage of my partnership, I asked him to count a 1% less so I could be at a lower step than a coworker who's been working with him for five years (I think Boss wanted me to have a higher percentage than hers). When I realized she considered herself more "important" than me I understood mine was a wise decision (she would have hated me if we had the same share percentage) but I popped a vein thinking how respectful I am of others (giving up a 1% of a share that might mean giving up 10.000 euros per year) when others just don't have the same consideration.

This is why I am so intolerant lately.

And this is why I start to understand people who get neurotically aggressive when they become managers.

My first reaction to being mobbed was: "Ok, now I go to Boss and she and he get fired!".

Then my moral issues ensued and I txted Chaos to complain and self deprecate.

Something similar is happening to a friend of mine who's been promoted recently. At first he thought the job was great, but now he's gone up to management he has to deal with people who don't really have the ability that their position requires. Now he goes to meetings where nothing ever gets decided and has to deal with departments who never do what they say they're going to do.

He's become an bad-tempered old man in the space of a few months.

That kind of sucks. Giving up a % to be nice to some ungrateful partner that didn't even realize you'd done it? At least you can rest assured that you're a better person, and not concerned with % to make you feel "important". Money isn't everything. But you already knew that.
