What's your take on David Blaine's starvation-box stunt he's doing over there?

Well, I'm still in Italy, but I've been keeping an eye on the news. I think Blaine's an interesting case. Despite his monotone voice et al, he certainly knows how to get an audience interested.
Depressingly, it seems that it's brought out the worst in London residents, with people hurling abuse at him, banging drums, hitting gold balls at him. That's demonstrated that the English and their self-professed love of the eccentric is a load of bullshit. For details:

They hoisted him up the tower bridge the day after we cruised past it. Its quite funnny how they were updating people every now and then on TV and all you see is David sitting in his little box.
Of course I came home and I'm not even sure if anyone even knows its going on let alone who he is.
