So since I can't decide wht the hell I want to do with my career...I careen back and forth from one goal to the next...that's what got me stuck where I am now...however, being here has recently opened up the old "wanna teach" vein...so after a training class a month and a half ago, I expressed interest in getting into the training bit...and it's finally born fruit for me! I'm actually being sent for training somewhere OTHER than Chicago...it's pretty cool...sadly just a one night trip, but a trip none the less and I can begin working my way towards an eventual move to training and Human Resources if that isn't scary...
How about them apples, eris? Me in Hotel HR...is yours as crazy as ours?

Actually, HR staff we have here seems pretty tame. Talk to me about the LAST hotel I worked at...

Well, let's see. I was hired at $8.00 an hour, which was a dollar less than the last audit job I had, but more than they usually paid. Raise time came around, and I was supposed to get a $.50 raise. Instead, I got a $.25 raise. When I questioned this, I was told it was that because I was hired at such a high wage, they couldn't afford the entire $.50 raise. Raise time came around again, and I got another $.25 raise. Again, I was told it was because of my high hiring wage.
I can only conclude that the longer I was there, the dumber they thought I was getting.

HR is still HR...it can be a world of crazy in the Hotel Business...
So it's official...I'm heading to columbus on the 16th...how ironic is it that the one city I get sent to for training is one I'm always goign to anyway...so much for hoping for Hawaii...

Why would they send a training class to Hawaii?? Would anyone show up for the class?

Wow, a free trip to Ohio in the Winter. Maybe this explains why HR people are like that?
