Cops

No, this isn't a rant about my own personal grievances against law enforcement agencies. If you'd like to air some of yours, feel free to spout off.

I was just wondering if anybody else watches the television show. I like to see other parts of the country at it's finest. It's the only reality-based show that I watch these days. I like to miss the first few minutes and then try to figure out which metropolitan area they're trying to clean up during that episode.

Wife and I used to watch it years ago, I guess when it was a new show. I think my son watches it a little. I'll tune in now and then.

An amusing thing for me was when the cops would be picking up some drunk, skinny, scraggly-looking redneck who usually wasn't wearing a shirt and C. would say "Where are they again?"

"Alabama." (Or whereever)

"Oh, thank goodness they're not in North Carolina..."

Meaning: the rest of the country is watching a representative of YOUR state getting hauled in and acting like a hick and thus giving everyone else an image of your state.

I don't watch much tv anymore, but Cops is something I'll watch. It is funny, and kind of pathetic too.
Canada has a show called "To Serve And Protect" which is similar to Cops, but every show is 90% about drunk men/women who are too pissed to know what's going on. Even more pathetic than the mix of druggies and drunks on Cops...

I don't really make sure I tune in, but I won't change the channel if it is on. Did anybody here ever see that home made internet video of "Troops" that somebody made a spoof of both Cops and Star Wars? It was hilarious!

I remember an episode from Beavis and Butthead where they took some money from an ATM and went and bought a whole bunch of nachos then they turned on to the COPS on tele... Butthead said that it's right in their neighborhood... cops started banging on their door "Beavis, did you hear that knocking?" Then the cops bust in and right on their own tele you could see them getting arrested and everything...

That's what pops up in my mind whenever I see Cops... never fails.

I remember that episode of Beavis & Butthead.

Did anyone ever see the episode of the X-files where it was shot Cops style and they were trying to hunt down a werewolf that was terrorizing the neighborhood? I forget which season it's from.

I'm not a big X-File fanatic but I do remember that episode. One of a few X-File episodes I hope I'd catch whenever I watch the syndications.

Sounds interesting. I'm guessing drugs are a bigger problem here in the states. Last month there was a drug-related homicide about a mile or so from where I live. The first of the year for this city. I'm hoping it's the last, but I have a strange feeling about how this year is shaping up. o_0
