People do soundtracks all the time. Have at it! I have several here in the studio and I enjoy them. I like the idea of you guys assembling a soundtrack list by popular vote and then making a cd for fan enjoyment (that's not illegal, is it?). My favorite one so far was a complete package, with a cd booklet using color graphics pulled from the book and copious text about each song and where it fit into the story. In fact, one the songs from that cd, SHHH by Fleming and John, made it into the new issue of SIP coming out.

Cool. The only problem is getting it all put together, if some of us want to contribute, because we all live in different countries or far apart in the same country.
We'll see what we can do.

I can arrange for the "assembeling" and burning of the cd. I work closely with a mastering studio that can put it all together.
The real issues are with duplication( we'll need a graphic artist to put it all together on a cdrom) so the duplication firm can use it)
and legal stuff concerning distibution and copy rights. If we use established artists without permission the sound track can only be free. So that raises the question of how to finance this project. I have a friend who is an intelectual(sp?) properties lawyer. I will ask him what steps we need to take to prevent any back lash from BMI or ASCAP. We may have to pay a fee. The duplication cost will depend on number of duplications, # of colors used on cover and insert. and size of insert. I have all this info for several duplication companies. Other options include VERY SLOWLY duplicating them ourselves. and doing all graphic/lay out work ourselfs. It can, and has been done in the past. Other options are folks need to contact indie artists from their area check out their music and lyrics. see if any fit in with the sip vibe. get their permission to add a song or 2 to a sound track compilation to be distributed internationally. The exposure alone may be insentive for them to give permission.
