Sugar is now opening up its Screenwriting Competition for Summer 2003.

The 2003 Sugar Screenwriting Competition for Features and Shorts is an international competition open to all original, English-written feature/short film screenplays that have yet to be produced, optioned or sold. All scripts will be evaluated based upon concept, structure, character, cinematic quality yand superior writing.

Categories:

Feature Film. Minimum 80 pages (no maximum). Administration Fee of UKP25 (non-refundable).

Short Film. Up to 20 pages. Administration Fee of UKP15 (non-refundable).

Shootingpeople get UKP5 off.

Deadline for submission on both categories is May 1st 2003. All scripts submitted will go through a rigorous reading from our panellists (at least twice). Winners to be announced Early July 2003.

The prize for Feature winner is UKP250, a copy of Final Draft 6, and the screenplay pitched through Sugar Productions to potential investors. The prize for Short winner is UKP100, a copy of Final Draft 6, and the film produced through Sugar Productions.

All submitted scripts will get feedback in the areas of storyline, characterization and dialogue.
