A friend is giving me an old Elmo ST1200 projector. He says it has a speed issue.Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be and how it may be able to be fixed?I'llpost more when I get it.

Be careful when opening the projector up as it is easy to blow the fuse if you touch two different parts of the machine at the same time with a steel tool, best bet is to completely unplug the electrical cord.

There are adjustable pots for the speed control. When I was adjusting the ones in my Elmo projector the screwdriver touched at two different parts and I blew the fuse (at the very least).

The speed issue could also be related to the rubber belts, which will either dry out or gum up over time from NON-USE.

And finally, there is a speed plus or minus 10% speed adjustment that some Elmo's have, you don't have to open up the unit to find the dial either, perhaps that was left all the way up or all the way down?

The speed issue seems to be holding a continuous speed.Off hand it seems to be a motor problem.
