    Hi,

I'm very new to this super 8 thing and my question is probably very dumb but are there any other gauges other than kodak's? As far as I know, you can only buy your gauges from Kodak and the processing is already included in the price you pay for the gauge (wich makes home processing a redundantc extra cost, if you just want to get your film developed without urgence). What I want to know is if is there a way to detour all this process. I find it a bit hard to beleive that Kodak holds such a monopoly on gauges... Can anyone please help me?

I'm not clear on the termonology, by gauges do you mean film? Cause if so then there are plenty of places where you can by film from and get it processed when ever you want.

Yes, by gauges I mean film (translating terminology can be tricky...). But is there any other film besides kodak's?

Yes, but kodak is the best. If you do not want to pay for processing ahead of time there is a place in downtown manhattan called pac lab that is great. You can by just the film and get it processed whenever you want. They also have super 8 negative film, which is more expencive than reversal and not really necassary with super 8.

    Cool

For super8 there is no film but Kodak's. You can buy it from someone other than Kodak but you will pay more. Even Pro8mm's films are cut down, repackaged Kodak film.

Fomapan is available for R8 and SD8 but not S8. And I'm told Fuji still makes single 8, but that's another story.
