Searching for super 8 crystal sync cameras for various films projects.
Where can I purchase a canon 1014 (XLS or E)?
How much do they go for?
Looking for something cheap that runs on batteries, has a zoom lens and various speed films. Thank you.

Canon 1014's aren't cheap, they're one of the cream of the crop S8's, and crystal synce'd S8 cameras are the most expensive.
To get one modified runs around $500.
Keep looking on Ebay, then get it Crystal synced at the Film Group

almost any super 8 camera will do these things unless it is a "instamatic" model (rediculously basic ones made by kodak. So- you should'nt have a problem getting a camera that will do those things for cheap.

if you buy on eBay get the camera checked out by a repairman. make sure you have the speed checked too. the film group will not modify any camera that is not running perfectly. shooting film is not cheap so get the best camera you can. otherwise you are throwing away your money if the camera breaks down, loses sync, or makes improper exposures. when you pay higher prices for cameras from places like Duall Camera, you are getting a well maintained machine. if you buy from other than a "pro" dealer you risk having to spend extra on repairs. i have often got lucky buying from else where, but not always. I bought a Canon from Cameta that was defective. but they repaired it for free. it did take 4 months to get back. after all that, i'm not sure it was woth it. i would say, pay the higher price (if you can) and not deal with the hassle and the waiting.
