where can I get a good splicer? I am mainly looking for a guillotine splicer. IF anyone thinks there is a better way to splice let me know and tell me where to get one.

The best Super8 viewer ever made by human beings is the Minette S-5(In my opinion). They are big bucks about $200.00, as for the splicer CIRO is great but expensive too. I have a Minette S-5 and a Kodak Presstape Splicer since they are cheap and I can get tape anywhere for it. If you want a viewer and splicer call Irv Higdon 1-800-318-3259. He sells Minette as well as others. Tell him Adam sent you.
Good luck

I beleive that the best super-8 (tape) splicer is the WURKER splicer (designed also for use editing film with a soundstripe). Mind you it is a very expensive system, the splicing tape alone goes for around $12 for only 50 tape splices, and at first it can be a difficult process (be sure to get an owners manual). The end results though, if done properly, is a very strong, and practically invisible splice, that is not normally associated with the edited film, jumping, jamming, or breaking in the projector, unfortunately, ciro/guillotine and presstapes can often be.
On the other hand, the BEST type of splicer, in my opinion, is a cement splicer. One of the best ,and most indestructable being the Maier-Hancock S-8 hot splicer, it makes great cement splices, easily, in about 10 seconds.
Good Luck

A "hot splicer" is a cement film splicer that uses an electric heating element inside to speed up the time that the film takes to bond/weld together.
The Maier Hancock is also used by some without it being plugged in (increase the splicing time to about 20 - 30 seconds), some believe that the heat may decrease the integrity of the splice over time, with or without heat though the Maier Hancock is one great, solidly built, film splicer.
