Pedantically speaking, you'd have to be a right know-nothing moron of a nonce keeping your mobile phone on during a DV/Beta/HD shoot.

You would think, but I've seen some very experienced people forget to turn it off.

when did i say competance was a prerequisite for being a director?

if directing gives you sleepless nights you obviously in a disorganised shambles.

I agree with what Woody Allen has to say. And Martin Scorsese seems to be a very self-conscious filmmaker. But nothing about the book seems to be a list of rules, not that I'm expecting it to be. I don't believe there is such a thing anyway.Quote:
It seems like you're looking for a list of rules or something. If that's what you want then buy a book about film-directing (I recommend 'Moviemaker's Masterclass' - by L.Tirade mainly because it is simply interviews with different directors about their own methods).
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I think I liked it so much because it showed just how different every director works, how their methods can totally differ- there is no groundbreaking technique/secret to learn! For example- some like to rehearse for months before a shoot, whilst others prefer to do none, yet both make fucking great films!Quote:

It's because it's not a list of rules that I like it, and that I recommended it to you. Looking back to your original post with the questions, the directors in that book answer more or less all of them, and they are all a little more experienced than us guys, so I hope it is what you are looking for.
By the by, you're pretty new along with some other people on the forum- why don't you tell us a little about yourself on this thread here:
Who are YOU???
