I was thinking of joining the Director's Guild of Great Britain.
Has anyone heard of this union? Is it good? Is it a waste of money?

I went to a trade show once and picked up all the forms to join - I think there was a "basic" level which only cost about 60-100 a year, and from what I read it seemed quite cool. You get your name & your most recent productions listed, I think.
I'd suggest joining up if you have some seriously good projects under your belt & you want to network with other directors. I wouldn't know if there's any famous directors on their books - but if you do decide to join let us know how it goes

I think you'd likely be better of joining BECTU. Just do your research.

I'm going to join.
The main reason for DGGB instead of BECTU is that there's a student membership for ?25, and I can't afford anything more. Not if I'm supposed to be paying travel expenses for actors...
