Time is my favourite luxury. I find nothing more productive in my writing and filming that being able to leave something for a month or so then come back to it. Being able to reassess things from a fresh prospective, and the added objectivity that comes from that is a wonderful thing.
Im been really lazy the past few weeks, havent done anything really cept waste away the days. But tonight i went back to this script ive been working on and suddenly all these sentences that seemed clunky were really easy to fix, in the space of a few minutes i had gone through and made loads of changes, nothing drastic, just adding words here and there, rewriting sentences.
Im pretty sure if i spent enough time on a project i could get it as near to perfect as humanly possible. Just we dont always have that sorta time.
For me one of the most frustrating aspects of creating any peice of art is that i never get to experience it from anyone elses perspective. Ive hand selected the music for a film for example, so Ill wonder what its like to hear that song for the first time with the film. Or even simply... watching the film and not know whats gunna happen next!
I guess leaving a project and coming back to it is as near as this objective, 3rd person view we as artists, entertainers and film makers will ever get. :\
