IMHO

1: People either go Hollywood or think you want to see them naked when you tell them you make movies.

2: Most people take the whole pride in ownership of a computer way to seriously.

3: Most people go overboard with the whole internet persona alter ego thing!

4: The cure for a lot of this is to realize that the internet is so badly distorted from what it was supposed to be.

Odd choice of examples

punctuation is just a way of representing the paralinguistic features on paper, its fair to say you can use a ! but then it changes the meaning of the question to a rhetorical one. So yes you can use them, but not in place of a ? the two different things impose different meanings on the sentence.

The use of my story was completely out of context to what was being said about cleaning up toxic waste.
