Has anyone any advice on what kind/make of microphones to use to get a good sound? We will be shooting some scenes outside, but mainly we will be shooting inside.
I already have a Shure SM58 mic which is a top bollocks mic for bands, but im unsure if it will do for recording duties on a film.
Cheers

Shure is a good brand and if used properyly it should serve your perposes fine. The first thing I would do is build or buy a boom.Next I would switch the mic.to directionall(if your mic. has this funtion).
When filming inside(if there is little to no movemt of the actors),I use a lappel mic.(Radio Shack).Run the cord under the actors shirt, down the pant leg and to the recording device.
You may have to experiment with the two(or some other veriation). It all depends on the acustics of the enviroment.
