I am considering to buy a remote control for my camcorder. One of the extra features is 'Audio Dub'. This means I could put music and sound effects on my movies. But can I dub one without losing the other one? I would hate it for my music to stop every time a gun was fired.

You will need a separate sound mixer with two inputs (very affordable these days). Play your music through one input and your sound effects through the other - the mixer will mix the two sound sources and this is then out-put to your camera when you use the audio-dub feature. So you can have music and gunshots at the same time!

If you are cutting the video together on VHS, there are two seperate tracks for sound. You could put more audio on the second track in post
