I just saw swordfish and can't believe the rubbish that John Travolta's character comes out with. How can Dog Day Afternoon be an unrealistic portrayal of a hostage situation because no hostages died when the film is based on a true story?
I was kind of disappointed at seeing another Joel Silver formula put to a badly thought out idea. Conveyor belt or what? I hated Romeo must die too. Terrible acting and poor effects. If you can't repeat the quality of effects in the Matrix then don't try.

Hi,
Just watched it myself. Thought it was
OK.
Liked the alternative endings and can
imagine how they had a meeting about
which one to pick, the traditional good
ending, the bad guy gets away with it,
or the middle of the road ending....
And after the whole film talking about
the bad guy getting away with it you can
guess the ending they picked.
:-)
When I grow up I want to be on a committee
too.
Still, thought it was a cool film.

It was good up to that great explosion sequence in the beginning. After that it all wen't downhill.
As to the Dog day monolog.I think it had to do more of how Travolta's Character felt about the movie then the actual filmakers; As his Character wanted to convey to the cops the "realties" of what would happen to the hostages if they didn't get the ransom money.

I went to see this at the cinema a while ago, I thought it was quite good... ok so the story doesn't do much really, but I think it shows us in away about modern terrorism, and shows us the lengths people will go to if they believe in a cause.
Also I liked the little twists that were in the plot.

I'll be the first to admit that Swordfish was a dumb enjoyable action flick. If one is not tired of overused plot devices and story gimmicks, and can manually remove their cerebral cortex and leave it in the car, it's a load of laughs. But compared to say Die hard, Swordfish is pretty damn wanky IMO. Now the great classic Die Hard was a film with ?complex? plot developments and a great mix of comedy and action. The dialogue was believable, and the end result was a roller coaster ride where you didn't have to turn off parts of your brain to enjoy. Swordfish doesn't hold a camera to work that happened fifteen years ago. It's got some nice eye candy and is mildly entertaining, but not worth any abundant praise.

A classic film? No way.
Yes you did get to see Hale Berry?s berries, but apart from that her characters contribution to this film is non-existent. In fact she is a two faced shite and a moaning beatch off screen anyway. Get to fuck hoe.

Swordfish sucks big fat elephant dick.
Dumb? definitely Enjoyable? Does the pope shit in the woods?
And did nobody interpret the monologue at the start as a direct stab at intependant film-makers? Watch again then...
I hated this film with a passion, and was squirming in the cinema.
