Why would it take you 2 years to finish a movie. If you got the equiptment and the desire it should take you no more than six months. Hey, I also never said to take friends for granted. When one starts making movies, people will naturally move away from you. And then you might lose the people closest to you because they cann't stand the idea that you might actually succeed. So they become negative and tell you all kinds of dumb stuff like that you are a dreamer,a loser, or just plain crazy. But what happens when you do succeed and make millions. People want to be around you and say they knew you. Keep that in mind.

if you want to make millions then there are a lot easier ways to do it.
Try getting into real estate.
Besdies, honestly, "people closest to you wont want you to succeed?" Cant be very good friends then can they?

I don't think people here believe in the American dream.

I for one don't want a hut in Malibu. I just want to be close to some of the most varied and beaufiful scenery in the world.
Just like people may dream of moving to the south of France or wherever.

California just has everything I want in a location.

Write to all Uni's Art college's and film schools offering your help as a runner - as soon as you've got your foot in the door they'll want you back for better and better jobs coz they know they can trust/rely on you!!

I live in California and trust me. Just cus you live there dosen't mean that it will be easier to get noticed. It's not cus in Hollywood, every person is just another hopefull trying to get a part. I have been directing films for a while and I find that the best way to get noticed is by connections. If you know a small movie theater near you. Go to them with you short film (cus they wont show a long one) and ask them if they would play it before the movie starts. Even be willing to pay them to. If you can get your movie into the theater and it's good, then you can get sponsors for you next movie. You don't need Hollywood. You just need good ideas and hard work.
