Ghosts

Ghosts, these have always been simple to fake, the two most honored by time are the Plate glass and the straight double exposure. The plate effect is done live but so too is the double only you have to back-wind your film by the apropriate frame count before the second take. A well composed scene can multipul expose the film up to ten times to create stunning effects. This system is still used today, mostly for model shots reqiring different lighting combinations or beauty passes. Get yourself a good domestic Super 8mm camera and access a tried and tested movie effect that can't be done on digital!

I agree with Hairbrain's suggestion. Ghosts, spirits and dream sequences seem to be re-occuring items in a lot of our projects. We've had a lot of luck film the scene twice... once with the ghost, and once without. In post, we apply all kinds of mattes, overlays, etc. Just for kicks, here's a sample!

What do you think of this http://www.mysonpeter.com/images/movin/0pt.mov ist a small mov file of what some guy says is his dead son. Ok its pretty grainy but if thats an effect its very cool.
