Help!!!

i am a sixth form student who has just been accepted to university to do a media production degree, i have made short films before with the help of my freinds video and editing machine, but now i wish to make a solo piece, i live in the nottingham area (england) and am in desperate need of any hints or places of cheap purchase in the video and editing equipment area (preferably second hand), i already have a great idea for a film and have already scripted it, the only thing i now lack is professional equipment. PLEASE HELP!!

P.S i would welcome any tachnichal suggestions or hints on lighting cost and general aiding hints

My sister is doing a degree in media production. shes in her second year and beleive it or not they havent made ANY films/ videos yet. maybe it's just her university but if you've got the equipment there don't wait for them too tell you to make a film before you do it. Milk thier facilities for all they're worth because they don't REALLY care about you. Boo hoo.
