Would I be able to get a (cheap) lens that would allow me to shoot the moon and have it pretty much filling the frame?
I'm using a Canon XL1.
Thanks
PS. I know with this camera i't possible to use any Canon lens - one problem is that lenses are so expensive. Often a specific lens is only needed to get one shot and then not needed again. Anyone got any ideas for blagging lenses - getting the shot and then taking them back for a refund? Any shops that allow you to do this (like HMV do with CDs etc)???

Just an idea, and it depends on what you want to do with the shot of the moon but, you could always use some file footage, or buy a poaster and film it or surf the net for an image then import it to your editing program. Get my drift?!

If this is a video, and you are editing on PC, download a big image of the moon, and gently zoom in and out (almost imperceptably)
This gives the effect of the flickering moon, rather than a still image.
You can also overlay clouds moving over the surface if need be.
Thats easilly the cheapest option, either that or buy a huge telephoto lens.
