Hey Miker, I've got the exact same set up going on, except I DO have DVD studio Pro, but anyhow, can you tell me how to creat titles in FCP4? This is the first time I have used FCP and I have managed to transfer my knowledge of Premire over to it to an extend but I can't figure out out how to make the bloody titles!

The instructor of the Mac class kicked his 450 up to an 800 dual and he LOOOOOVES IT. He said it screams. The upgrade cost less than a $1,000 bucks.

got hold of dvd studio pro 2, am currently waiting for my first dvd project made with it to encode ... (like, three hours of transformer videos captured from vhs for my son who's nearly 5 and just loves 'em)
dvd studio is just awesome - it's the first package i've seen for authoring dvd that doesn't cost thousands of pounds, and yet you can (if you want) regionalise and macrovision protect any dvds you author - wow!

so, really, i'm still cutting my teeth on both packages, i have a project coming up next month that will put them both to real-world use.

meanwhile i still get calls from help from my windows using friends about codec troubles and dvd authoring woes ... feels good to be 'different' (read: marginalised) - being a mac user is like having a dirty secret - stuff just works, you get paid, go home. MSBlaster? pah! SoBig? bah!

this post is going to look like such a cliched 'switcher' post. but, it really is the better platform for actually being productive.

The upgrade price is half a G5 though, I'd rather contribute the money towards a G5

I guess it depends how you interpret the numbers. If you buy the $750.00 upgrade, then it's only 1/4 the cost of the high end G-5.

If you buy the $950 dollar upgrade, and the cheapest G-5, then it's 1/2 the price.

i've also used premiere on pc/mac but vegas video on pc rocks, those guys know that audio is 50% of your production! dvd architect is great too, although iDVD is schweeet for quickndirty dvd projects

definitely gonna stick with mac for the forseeable future.

Now using a PowerBook 15", my kids both have iBooks and picked up on this whole computing thing rather quickly. Not only are they using one button, they're using that damned trackpad thing and prefer it to a mouse!

I'm still waiting for FCP/FCE to catch up with Sony Vegas in certain areas.
