All valid points, but heres a fact:

No one would choose dv over film on this board if cost and expertise were not an issue. It is these limitations that force us to shoot dv because film is not an option. Unless you're loaded or in film school.

Anyways I like both formats, I just like my features on film. Schlock fans don't care about image quality, or acting or script or cinematography so I have no doubt that hi-8 let alone dv will satisfy some of them.

I for one will shoot my first feature on film, unless hi-def really proves itself.

Now i'm off to crew on super 16 film. Adios for now.

It's funny how people often use the "Star Wars episode 2 was shot on DV!" argument. Don't quote me on this one, but didn't it take like several people to move the camera, because it was so big?

That's no Sony DV Handycam if I ever saw one.
