Way to go, Eliud! Remember, there's them that TALKS about it, and them that DOES it. Just keep doing it. You're already a better filmmaker than when you got here! It all starts with a dream, and you definitely have that part cooking for you..."All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream"--E.A POE...Well, don't just sit there, go out and shoot some film!

No. I don't agree with the majority, but he does seem to be somewhat 'out there' moreso than creativity would warrant. Read all his posts...
-
So what exactly is the moral of the story???
-
...It's just a shame he's got dick-all talent...
Carry on.

This guy's still talking? The post has already hit page four...

So I finally moved away from Austin, Texas and now I am back home where I belong. Later I will give a full analisis of Austin and why Austin is a great place to make films. Also why Robert moved there from San Antonio, Texas, why Austin creates great filmmaker like Rodriguez and Richard Linklaker(Slacker), why Rodriguez and Linklaker make such diverse films, why the newly created Austin Studios will one day rival Hollywood Studios, what IBM and DELL Computer corporation have to do with filmmaking in Austin. Why the future of filmmaking is not in saving some money and shooting a film the Robert Rodriguez way but in the computer industry. Why I will become a great filmmaker. Please feel free to comment and Post replies. In a few days you will get the answers you have always been asking. Thanks.

I like Rodrigues. I've read his book about getting Deperado made, and i really made me think about the lenghts you have to go to to make it. On the other hand, he is quite an ordinary film director, i mean deperado was quality, but with a script doctored by Tarantino, and having had 3 dry runs to film it previously, he would have to be a real *** for it not to be a good movie. Where as you have something like "the Faculty", which while trying to be all ironic and parody itself, was really just shite.
As well, in his book, you get the feeling the guy is well up his own **** , with his "i'm a genuis who made it against the odds" vibe. Good luck to him, but no matter how he tries, he is never gonna be tarantino, and he should just get over it!

Is it just me or hasn't this post/topic become old?

The problem is you are right.
Now that computers can pretty much rival the human race when it comes to playing chess, what exactly is the benefit to know that now any human can be beaten by a computer?
What type of inspiration does this create?
If you would like to check out the picture on my Super-8mm forum, it is of the letter R. It was done on location in camera.
It took a lot of thought to figure out how to do it. How to turn an everyday nighttime scene into something completely different.
You can recreate the "look" that I created on location with a computer. Big ******* deal. Why sit there in awe of the computer when the real world is there in front of you.
While the media may be impressed that tennis players bulk up more and more from muscle accelerants, and are able to do so to the point where they dominate the sport of tennis, should their way hog all of the spotlight and leave the non-drug taking tennis players completely out of the picture?
**** your computer and it's future in Hollywood, the same ******** that make this **** are the ones that embezzle 300 million from their own corporate feifdoms as they lay-off 5,000 workers.
Work ethic is being replaced by computerese, it's not something to celebrate as if it were some kind of emancipation.

So you met Robert, and family/entourage etc.
and he signed something and let you get a phot. good for him. good for you
as I understand it the only time they mean it when they say they like what your doing is when its written on a check in big numbers.
other that that theyd just as soon have you **** their d i c k or flip their burgers. its all *****x
now as for the greatest filmakers bing in exposure. *****x too. if we/i was great I wouldnt have time/inclination to be dicking around a message board.
Theirs another post in hear that goes of on one about mat and ben writing good will hunting, or not.
boolox 3
they wrote it. they starred in it. they get paid how much for a movie, and writing a 'good'/'excellent' script takes how long and pays how much ? dunno but 5-10Million for 4 months work vs 0-2 million for 1-forever..... do the math
if you get to work on this brother of rodriguez movie thing. great . let us know how it goes. if you dont, dont sweat it. everyone wants to do that - and no doubt you werent the only chap bouncin about like a 6 yr old on a quart of tatrazine
i read how shallow grave got made after everyone said 'no thanks' to an unknown scriptwriter by blagging it into the hands of the deceision maker - and he had nothing else to do on his 1hr20 min flight. - so he read it.
( he could just as well dumped it inthe trash )
so the rule might be 70 perspiration 20% inspiration 10% luck/improvisation
anyway, i gotta go hump my cow.
