A real steadycam? The secret is in learning to balance it properly. If you don't balance it front to back, side to side, and top to bottom (most operators like it slightly bottom heavy) then you'll end up fighting to hold a shot, and the darn things are tiring enough as it is. When you are balance properly you should be able to let go of the rig and it will stay in the same place. There are gears that move the camera for balancing front to back, and side to side, and top to bottom is done by sliding the handle up and down. Keep your back straight, and learn to do the work with your legs. Always work with a wide lens, as this is a wide angle tool, and only really practiced operators attempt moves with a long lens. Make sure that the vest is tight, and take some extra foam rubber with you to add padding to any parts that start to hurt after you've worn it a while (the hips are a common sore spot). Good luck, and eat your wheaties. (An american joke meaning you'll need to be tough)
