im sure there are alot of Rodriguez fans here so maybe someone can help me out here.

I just got the El Mariachi and Desperado DVD and the Desperado plot completely loses me...

Why is he looking for Bucho, the man who shot his hands and killed his woman, when it is Moco he has the flashback of? Or is it simply that he gets the names mixed up and goes after Bucho when he should be going after Moco?

Ya, Moco died at the end of El Mariachi. He was flashing back to him for continuity, while was working his way up the totem pole of gangsters. Hopefully if 'Once Upon a time in Mexico' ever sees the light of day it will tie everything together, what I didn't really understand was where he round up those two other militant mariachi's when in the first one he was just some guy who got roped into all this. But whatever, fun movie.

He was working his way through Moco's gang, of which Bucho was the head. From what I remember.

Word to the wise. Rodriguez, despits his obvious talents has never exactly been the king of plot. I mean Bedhead is still the guys best movie.

that make no sense, 'cause in desperado they show re-made parts of El Mariachi and the guy who shoots is Moco...

You've got to remember that El Mariachi was supposed to be seen by no-one apart the the Spanish video market. I guess Rodriguez wasn't too concerned over whether people would question the plot to Desperado.

this arguement that he never thought ppl would of seen El Mariachi doesnt make sense becos if that was the case u would simply replace moco with bucho. But he doesnt do that, he has the flashback with Moco. I think even if you didnt know who that guy was it would still be confusing as to why two different ppl are shown/talked about.

El MAriachi is so much better than desperado. Desperado just got more stoopider as it went along. El Mariachi, at points had quite a lot of realism and Desperado just glossed over it by putting Scuds inside guitar cases. Steve Buscemi gave it such a great opening though that I probably just felt let down.
