Hey,
Can you play betacam tapes on a miniDV camera ? Seems like a silly question, but the tapes look exactly alike and I need to look at some footage I have on betacam.
Thanks.

At the end of the day you can open up a film mag and run over to the director and ask him what he thinks of the footage....
Usually when people are in the position where they encounter Beta on a regular basis they know better than to ask these questions.
Good Luck

obviously when you reach a stage in your career where you are being paid to do a professional job, you won't have any silly questions and *you* will be the authority :-)
LOL i dont think i could ever find u authoritive with ur danceing storm trooper up there!! LOL
In all fairness, the tapes are both black with a red bit at the top....
Is it possible that he has some footage that was shot on BetaCam and then transferred to MiniDV, in which case it should work on a MiniDV camera.
Mr.Ark, my guess is that you are confusing betacam with dvcam? And those formats have the same tapes. The difference is that some cams cant read dvcam. Hmm and dvcam consumes way more tape than minidv.
Ah, well...
Hehe, that last post was a little vague I guess.
What I mean is that miniDV and DVCAM use the same tapes. Mmm... and camcorders that record in DVCAM are usually more high end.
