'Fraid so.
If you don't have enough money to pay permisson to use published music - and you don't, being a penniless film-maker - then you will have to use copyright-free music.
You can either compose it yourself, get someone else to compose something or buy a CD containing royalty-free music. But I understand that can be a bit generic and bland.
An interesting alternative would be to find an unsigned band and get them to donate a few songs in return for free publicity.
But yeah, no-one will touch you if your film has any copyright material that hasn't been cleared.

The only advice I can give you is:
1) Always hold onto your dream, even when your parents say you're wasting your life.
2)Keep sending applications to Hollywood such as Dreamworks, Castle Rock entertainments and such and such
3)Sit on my face and wriggle (if you're fit)
