and one more thing... bauhaus and joy division are proper goth bands. you'd be hard pushed to find more suitable examples. think before you speak. joy division and bauhaus are responsible for some of the darkest, most dark and gothic albums ever made you slaaags. and you know who else... gun club... check them out.

theres nothing intellectual about newkid's last post - it just looks like he takes way too much notice of what the NME say, and once upon a time what the melody maker said.
...and kurts ghost is fucking spot on. trying to get people to like the music you like by being elitist/trying to make people feel inferior cause of what they're into/being a twat is far worse than being a 'chain-wearing skater punk greebo'....

OK, Joy Division are gothic
But not goth
In the same Edgar Allen Poe wrote gothic stories but was not, to my knowledge, a goth

Bauhaus - Goth

1 - goth music is open to interpretation; Joy Division/ the cure, etc, coat-tailed the punk movement and while retaining some of its energy, came up with a distinct and original sound. Call it goth if you will, but i like it anyway. so there. also "NU" metal as a way of life? you deserve to trip up on the corpse of your dog, which i have just killed, and split your skull in half and have a rabid rotweiller eat your brains while townies piss on your face. so Fuck Off And Die.

personally, i think there is far too much mainstream music around. i mean there's some stuff, it was good, but then everyone was like "hey this is good, let's buy it", so then it sold out and, like, it wasn't good anymore. i hate that. i get pissed off with these magazines like "kerrang" as well. in fact every time i buy it, i get more and more annoyed. all these little kids read it, and then they like think they know everything about rock music, but they don't, they don't even know what categories (and sub-categories, and sub-sub-categories, and meta-categories) these bands fit in to. i mean how the heck can you appreciate good music if you don't know what catgory to put it in? me, i'm great with categories, but that's only because of all the hard work i put into it. sometimes i'm concentrating so hard trying to categorise a song or a band, that i sort of switch off, and it's like i can't hear anything, i can't actually hear the music, it's almost like i'm deaf, because i'm concentrating so hard that i'm no longer listening to anything except for my own thoughts. sounds crazy i know but it's true! me and my best mate stay up all night sometimes, talking about categories, and commercialism, and all that stuff, in fact it's all we talk about. when we're not wanking that is! when some people talk about music they use words like "harmony" and "dissonance" and "beauty", and they say things like "that lyric is so touching", but that's all shit, i mean what would they know? people like that probably think nirvana are metal. ha!

who are you 54CymruBeats? i have to say that if in your post you were being serious, i very strongly disagree. so what if you cant put a band/a piece of music into a catergorie? good music is good music, regardless of whether it is electronica, nu metal, punk or whatever.you get good and bad tunes from every genre. (my opinion) music is there becoz people enjoy making it and realise that alot of people enjoy listening to it, not for it to be over analysed and taken far more seriously than it is intended.

What do you mean you want more metal bands doing classical music?
metal = good
classical = ace (not just for upper class nemore)
neo classical = shit
if you know owt about metal then youll know how crap yngwie malmsteen and his horde of shredders are. classical music sounds better on strings and piano if you ask me.
Maybe some bands are good at it, i just dont know any.
And whats wrong with white rappers? So theyre middle class? almost the whole rap industry contains black rappers from middle class backgrounds. i thought race wasnt an issue anymore, black people can play classical, white people can play the blues. music is for anyone.
As for electronica, one word. www.teamsleep.com
If thats a word i dont know!

Shred = emotion
