here's something i've got to get off my chest. just because you can't get served alcohol or cigarettes doesn't make you straight edge. just because you don't like meat doesn't make you straight edge. i hate these little kids who go "i don't drink or smoke so i'm straight edge" when we all know that if they thought they could get served they'd be drinking like bloody fish. you have to consciously make the decision not to do these things, sacrifice them - that is what straight edge is - not being too young or broke to buy alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, sausages, etc. the next time someone turns round and goes "well i don't do drugs - i guess i'm kind of straight edge then" i'm gonna rip the floor up and beat the fuck out of them with it.

I agree in that people who say "I've gone straight edge for tonight" simply because they aren't drinking that night they agree with and support a whole philosophy on life.

Straight edge, however, I feel isn't sacrificing drink, drugs and sex because it isn't can't have it's don't want. If you don't want something you aren't sacrificing it.

Vegetarianism/veganism i.e not eating meat isn't actually an aspect of straight edge..it is merely a logical follow on. That is why people say they are straight edge vegan.

what the hell? you board people will argue about anything won't you. i could tell you father christmas doesn't exist and you'd probably try and tell me he does (not that he doesn't). i'm not too familiar with the exact customs of straight edgers and in no way claim to be one, i don't desire to drink, smoke, do drugs, etc (in fact the thought disgusts me) but i'm not straight edge - i just don't because i'm not stupid enough to pollute my body. my point was that a good deal of the people who claim to be - in fact aren't. (no examples). some nice points made there - some queer hostboard comments aren't gonna piss me off enough to make me rip the floor up and beat you with it, maybe just toss some wet leaves at you or hit you with a light pillow or something. big chest? hmm never really thought about it but i'm guessing no, i've just got a lot of rage (plus i love pissing people off).
