Post

Just discovered a couple of new video clips of Virgil Donati's new set-up, in a Tokyo clinic this summer !

Take a look at the intensity of Virgil's playing on these two clips, something I and others will see live at next weekend's drum festival in Montreal !

Click on:

http://www.virgildonati.com/media_videos.php

These clips are on Virgil's Web Site and the 4th and 5th clip on the site page.

Yeah, i was going to comment on those new clips but you "beat" me to it. ;c)

Aside from the obvious chops, take a listen to the 'layered' ostinato groove at approx 15 secs into the Tokyo 1 clip...
Woo-haaahhh! Seriously hip.

...[I AIN'T no "fanboy," peeps...just an "avid listener!"]

My next comment is, at first glance, you'd think the suspended toms are an 80's poser hair band type gimmick...but then, to all our surprise [*snicker*], lo & behold, Virg really "PLAYS" them...
[Okay, Okay, so it IS good for an audience 'visual'...] ;c)

...[No, that's NOT rampant blatant sarcasm you 'see' dripping from that last line]... ;cP

looking at those overhead toms, it occured to me that the 'thunder from down under' may have recently gotten 'thunderstruck'.

Do you see Virg? Looks like he quit Freakhouse. I saw him play with this band and it just didn't fit.

** I'm getting rid of the pic--poster actually. I didn't know it would post so large. No Virg...to see for yourself, go to;

Hey Pocketplayer,

Can you tell me how you managed to post the photo along with your reply ? What are the steps to do this ?
