    Hodskers

I have decided to get back in a band and have been approached via formingbands.com for several auditions. Some of them are signed/serious bands. I have usually only played with people I have known or through people that have seen me playing, so I usually didn't have to proof myself straight off the bat...they already knew what I could do.

What is the best way to approach it. Do I go in and play my ass off...or try and keep it simple and work into the music.

Tips welcome as the first one is on Thursday.

I'd try to get copies of their material and learn it as well as you can, not necessarily note for note, but true to the spirit of the tune. That should impress them more than you blowing chops.

Whatever you do, lock in with the other players. It's always a drag when you get a highly skilled player, who doesn't bother to listen to or acknowledge the presence of the other musicians in the group while they're playing together.

Yes there are. If you google musicians wanted then you will discover a few. I have found 2 in the UK and I have had about 20 contacts. You can even specify types of music, influences, skill level etc. People approach you based on that. It's really cool.
