Hey Guys,

I'm really glad that you are talking about Gene.
He's a good friend of mine and a very sweet gentle person, I like him a lot as drummer/musician, but firstly like human being.
He plays bass and keyboard like a badass !!!

So, I let a Me'Shell song for you with Gene, maybe you know this live already...
It's a old one, during the "Peace Beyond Passion" Tour, but I let a song from the first album : "Two Lonely Heart (On The Subway)"

Hey Andy,

Yeah by the way, on "Lunar Crush" Jojo plays most of the tracks...
But you can hear the difference with the snare drum sound, and Jojo sounds to me "like" Weckl" on some tracks where he plays, and Gene "like" Chambers...
There is a mistake on the inside book so...

I also have been into Gene for a long time. That Tao of Mad Phat solo is really great. I would also recommend Curves of life and Def Trance Beat also by Steve Coleman. I also really like his solo CD, Cycles. Gene basically plays everything on it except the solos (gtr, sax, and keys). His bass playing is featured as well as his drumming. He kinda has that Marcus Miller thing going on with his bass stuff, Good stuff indeed! I may be in the minority here, but I like the way Gene plays with the Torsos. I think his style and feel are pretty fitting to the band's sound/vibe. BTW, I am also looking for that Sessions at W. 54th thing. I saw one tune when it aired and it was pretty tight! Later!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh my Gosh! Someone ELSE knows Two Lonely Hearts! Right on, Rodge! I ended up with this song when I bought the cd single for "If That's Your Boyfriend", and I absolutely LOVE it! Peace Beyond Passion has a few EXCELLENT tracks on it, but the best one on there, in my opinion, is "Leviticus - Fa**ot". (No, it's not derogatory if you listen intently to the lyrics). The backbeat is SO simple, and WONDERFULLY effective at the same time. The Bass Lines MeShell plays in that track are absolutely breathtaking as far as FEEL goes. You simply can't help but move to it. I saw her on her last tour, and Gene sounded wonderful! Thanks for bringing this Thread up!!!

I've got a live recording with Chris Dave which just kills. She seems to give her drummers LOTS of room to stretch live, making the gig perfect for players like Dave and Lake.

I also really like her writing... a great mix of deep grooves, hendrixesque (if that's a word!) rock and more singer-songwriter stuff.
