What's your thoughts on them? I've ALWAYS hated artificial sticks such as carbon fibre and ahead, and the first time I tried carbon fibre years ago they felt hollow and had a strange 'springy' vibration when struck.
A student tonight said he bought some new sticks, the carbostick. My first thought was 'uh oh!'. They're 5B's. But I have to say, I couldn't find fault with them. I compared them to my vic firth 5A's, which are basically the same weight but thinner shaft, and they felt every bit as good. I'm guessing the technology behind them has advanced since I last tried carbon fibre. Nice crosstick sound, nicely weighted, no weird vibration and nice enough sound overall, on cymbals as well. I didn't play hard with them so I don't know how they feel when slammed, but yeah, they seem pretty nice.

I can't stand the sound of those on cymbals, although they sound ok on drums. I had a pair, and one stick snapped in half while practicing one day, something that nevers happens to me with hickory. They're supposed to last much longer than wood, but that wasn't that case for me.
