So my friends. I'm working on my Paiste setup. So far I have a 13" Dark crisp hi-hat and a 17" and 18" signature fast crashes.I'm gonna extend my setup and I'm thinkin sort of all -around sound. What do u Paiste veterans suggest? Traditional..Dark Energy..dimensions?? Suggestions much appreciated!

You should try checking out the Sound-Creation series. I have a 22" Dark Ride i love so much. I don't know if they make em anymore, but they still go for a fairly low price on Ebay, and most of them haven't been used at all.

Signature Series are allways a tastefull choice.

You've chosen a great brand for the majority of your cymbals, but don't be afraid checking out the products from other brands, a tasteful combination can be very succesful!

My music teacher is a Paiste endorser and he uses a combination of Dark Energy, Signature, and Traditional series cymbals in his setup. I like the sound of his Dark Energy ride cymbals. For several of his gigs, he likes to use 13" Signature Sound Edge hi hats and various ride cymbals like the Dark Energy, Traditional 22" Extra Light Ride, Traditional Light Ride, and/or Traditional Medium Heavy Ride. For crashes, I have seen him use a Signature Mellow Crash. These are some of the cymbals, which I have seen him use at his gigs.

It?s difficult to recommend a cymbal because what may sound amazing in my perspective, could be just average in other, but these are some of my opinions in some models.

The traditionals are dark jazz sounding cymbals, they don?t sound like old Ks but could be in the same category. If you like dark cymbals ( like me ), these are the ones, but they are?n very loud. If you want an all arround ride for example, go for the heavy ones, they have less overtones and a good bell.

The signatures are also exelent sounding cymbals, but some rides sound a little ?pingy? IMHO, (I don?t speak english very well so I hope these adjectives make any sense). I use a lot the Dry Dark ride and I love it. It may be compared to the K coustom rides, with a good bell, great stick definition, and heavy enough to handle even a heavy metal gig. I use it a lot in the studio, and when you put a mic on it, it?s when it really shines.

I?m not familiar with the Dimensions, but they have a lot of models, and they are cheaper than the others.

I?ve been using the Dark Energy cymbals for a couple of months and they?re my favorites now. They combine the best caracteristics of the Trad. and the Sign. series. I use now the 21?mark I ride and for me, it?s the best all around cymbal, with great stick definition, the perfect amount of overtones, and a bell that blends great with the body of the cymbal.

Well, to many words, you should check yor dealer and try some of these beauties.
Also, on the paiste site ( www.paiste.com ) ther?s a description of the sound of each model that could help you.
Hope these help you in any way.

By the way, they don?t make the Sound Creator anymore, so buy one if you find it

Ditto on the Sound Creations. I have 22,18,14" hats, 22 and 18 china types. They work well in electric and accoustic music. I get a lot of straight ahead calls, and most of the leaders prefer them to the Traditionals.
