Ok.... here goes.

Dave dropped his Camaro off at the shop yesterday. Asked him about the new Sabian line and yes, they are more of a trashy/dark sound. And again, yes, they are more appropriate for Jazz situations. He's been heavily involved in testing the outcome of the cymbals because he wants to make sure they hit production sounding the way HE wants them to sound (love that about Dave). So he said that if anybody wants to check them out in L.A. to come out to Catalina's and see him with Wooten and Stern this week. He'll be playing the prototypes. Dave sez hi to all the HOD'ers and looks forward to meeting anyone at NAMM this year.

Just got off the phone with Dave-o.

Sez that he's having a killin time playing with Wooten. Sez he's diggin on his funk pocket. So that means I'm gonna go see this tonight, probably 1st or both shows (anybody care to join me??). Hopefully this will be some "Dave in rare form." It's not too often I hear Dave specifically mention he's having a killer time playing with one bass player or another. And we all know Stern likes taking things to level 11.

Oh man! I wish I lived in LA....

meanwhile here in Ottawa there's a gaddam snow storm - took me 1.5 hours to get to work this morning when it's normally 40 minutes...

I would luuuuuuuuuuv to see Weckl play - especially with cats like Wooten and Stern.. jeez
