I would recommend checking out Audiophileimports at http://www.audiophileimports.com
You can do a search and check out the albums with Virgil. Virgil is very consistent performance wise so you really can't go wrong with any album he's on generally speaking.
I like Just Add Water.

One of my favorite CD's with Virgil on it is "Undefined" by guitarist Joel Hoekstra. I think it's some of Virgil's best playing. It's got Virgil's patented intensity, but his playing on this one emphasizes groove and taste, rather than just being a cold display of speed, chops and ability to play in odd meters (which Planet X tends to be, IMO). The music is killer...sort of like Electrik Band meets Joe Satriani meets Planet X.
It was never released on a label, so it's kind of hard to find. I picked up a copy at a Virgil clinic a while back.

Yeah, Power Drumming is just 1 SICK piece of work...have to admit, i need to replace mine as it's gettin EXTREMELY worn [picture fading in & out]...
If u liked that 1, do yourself a favor & run out [& i mean NOW] & get Virgil's segment of the "Modern Drummer Fest '97" video...actually, that post[topic] "Video Clips" by SkunkFunk has a vid-clip from it [from "Drummerworld"]...it is another ABSOLUTELY STOOPID piece of SICKNESS...it's WAY "over the top"...a "plethora" of compound/polyrhythmic/chopsfests/stixtrix...complete w/ a double-kick [as in "-your head in"] lesson at the end...not 4 the faint of heart...u will consider changing your profession/hobbie [as the case might be] after viewing...
His 1st 2 solo discs are absolutely TWISTED - SA-MOKIN, IMHO - all are "MUST-have's"...
This is your face: ...
& THIS is your face after viewing this vid/hear'g his solo discs:

I forgot to say, when seeing Planet X on their last gig for the MoonBabies tour last month, they were selling Virg's 1st drum video- NOT Power Drumming. This was shot in Austraila. It's hard to find, but my buddy picked it up and is making me a copy. If it's different than PD, I'll try to get copies made for trade or something.
I've noted several growth areas Virg has made from the MD '97 solos. I've seen him six times this year in various contexts outside of PX. He has packaged the MD '97 stuff more musically IMO. He is writing a lot also. I just wish PX would try to get one commercial tune out on the next CD. Beside Eric Johnson, who recently has really had commercial success in an instrumental group? Tough road commercially!

thanks guys....will do!
i just love virgils phrasing....it reminds me of vinnie and dave weckl in that the phrasing is so inventive and the way the combine straight and tiplet stuff. they wont just do a sickly fast flurry around the toms....they'll do it backwards.....but then they'll finish it off with a sick single stroke roll......but that roll will have such intense dynamics....and then they'll finish it off with a crash.....but they'll choke the cymbal.....lol....u get me!!! so focused!!
virgil is a true master and definitely the best drummer in the world technically! he has dedicated his whole life to drumming and is a truly gifted individual! he has inspired me no end and rather thsn destroying me he just makes me want to practise more and more. i have to stop watching and listening to him so much tho cause i hurt myself laughing!!!!!!!!

Yeah - you youngsters out there in LA just don't know HOW GOOT YOU GOT IT...why, when i was a pup i used ta haveta walk FIVE MILES in my BEST DARK SUIT on a swelterin HOT sunny August day, all uphill, just to get to a decent drum clinic/music lesson [if'n there WERE any, avaiable!!]...& then 6 miles back, Davis, buster...PAL...[in 6 ft. a' snow/blizzard]...
Pocket - 1 of the only other successful [solely] instrumental artists that comes immediately to my mind is Satch...[notice that they r both "bluesy"/rock]...& maybe a select FEW "melodic/"neo-classical"/metal guys from the mid-to-late '89's....
(Beats [or "Billy-Boy" Shatner!]): "Must....go....now....head....hurting....from....l ooking....at....screen....and....typing....and.... watching....Virgil....video...."
