Can someone tell me what the best CCEB recordings to get. Top three perhaps........

The first(eponymous)is essential. Inside Out is great. Eye of the Beholder as well.

These are good to start. Then get the last one, Beneath the Mask(which I like a lot). Light Years is the most straight album of theirs, it has some great tunes on it--View from the Outside!

And definately get the new one when it comes out.

Also, the second Electric Band with Gary Novak, Jimmy Earl on bass and Mike Miller on guitar was cool. You should get their album called Beneath The Mask. There's a killing blues on there and great playing by Gazza.
Another good album is Time Warp by Chick Corea, also with Gazza, Patitucci and the late Bob Berg.... Have fun! [img]graemlins/music.gif[/img]

& YES, Ben. the Mask [CCEB1]is a KILLER fusion-jamfest...listen closely to DW on the trac "Illusions" [img]eek.gif[/img] , for starters ... then chart the tune, & go learn to play it or read it down [img]confused.gif[/img] [like a lot of the stuff on Inside Out]... it'll rip your freekin head off...oh yeah, ole Mr. Weckl SURE sux on THIS one [img]wink.gif[/img] ...

yes, CCEB[2]'s 1st release was entitled Paint the World; that blues tune is entitled "Blue Miles" [if i rem. correctly]... & yes, it indeed has some beeyotchin' playin' by one Mr. "Super-Nova[k]"... he does this 1 short, BLISTERINGLY-BRUTAL solo over Chick's/keys vamp [at approx. 5:40 in the tune "Tone Poem"] that is just, quite frankly, stooopid [awa many of the fills]; proving he is a very worthy, albeit different, successor to the "Weckl Crown" [oh yeah, & that other little insignificant thing - he has great time] [img]wink.gif[/img] ....

I'd have to go with Inside Out ,Beneath the Mask, and Eye of the Beholder.....

btw FUSE...Illusions a kickin tune. First time I heard it, I could'nt stop listening to it....Eventually I went out and learned to tune...
That song is so much "everything"!!!!!

Yes the second reincarnation of the Elektrik Band was awesome .. I love how open Novak plays..I like his sensitivity on the drums...
A while back I saw this TV special on Alanis..Novak was playing drums and he also he a really cool acoustic kit.....
A super-open and diverse drummer....
Another one of my favorites....

yes i have the acoustic album....live one....and dug it out the other day. that is definitely some of weckls most fine playing.....very firery! its a shame and a wonder why that band didnt do more.....they were brilliant and must have had a wide appeal....still "traditional jazz" in a sense anyway, but the musicians had plenty of chops......corea's piano playing is so beautiful!

i also picked up what i thought was a rare cd.....brecker brother live with mike stern and dennis chambers......nice stuff....not too keen on dennis' early stuff....just hard and loud and the drums sound SO shit! i love mike sterns sound tho.....his solos are also very beautiful!
