There's a real nice review of a Weckl clinic found at:
http://www.ajpropercussion.com/cl_weckl.html
In the review, Weckl is quoted as saying:
"When I?m tuning for mics I do an entirely different tuning job. The batter heads are slightly de-tuned and the resonant heads are cranked up quite a bit tighter than I would tune them if I was not miked up. This eliminates a bit of the over -ring of the heads, otherwise these drums would sing for days "
I'm sure the "sing for days" part depends on the drums. Do any of you use this detuning technique?
Thanks

I do..........In my setup I use a 10",14" for corporate gigs, so I detune the 10 just a bit. But when I use a full kit,8,10,12, 14 I leave them up on the tension scale.
